Children will put up a mini variety-show presentation at the end of the workshop to show off their new Malay language skills learnt.

This course is designed to develop language and communication skills through the well-loved character “Adil”.

Using the books from our best selling series Seri Aksi Adil; Tikus Untuk Adil, Gajah Untuk Adil, Payung Untuk Adil or Meja Makan Adil, students will be guided through an 8 weeks course incorporating role-playing, improvisation and language games that will sharpen and develop their ability to communicate effectively using the Malay language. This course ends with a mini presentation of the student’s work.

‘Siri Aksi Adil’ Creative Writing Workshop

– To teach students how to write guided narratives and how to correct their work.
– To create confident writers.
– To introduce children to Malay literature and nurture them to enjoy it.

Great for budding writers, this course aims to develop language and writing skills in students. Using stories from the well-loved ‘Siri Aksi Adil’ (Adventures of Adil Series), students will be guided through a 6 weeks creative writing course.

Students will learn to create characters, develop plot and expand a situation. The best part is they can look forward to producing their very own storybooks at the end of the course!

Mini Theatre Workshop

Objectives:

Welcome to your very own Mini Theatre, a drama workshop featuring budding little actors!

This course aims to develop reading, listening communication and presentation skills through the use of drama as a means of self-expression. From our Siri Bacaan Awal Kanak-Kanak and Siri Bacaan Cekap Kanak-kanak books, students will workshop to a selected script based on this very short story. Using this script, students will do the readers theatre with a performance at the end of the course.

Cerita Kita Penglipurlara Drama Workshop

Objectives:
– To instill a love of the Malay language in students.
– To encourage students to speak Malay confidently.
– To expose students to the folktales that help to shape the Malay literary genre.
– To encourage and explore students’ imagination through creative art activities.
– To introduce students to the basics of theatre.

This workshop uses drama to engage students to learn the Malay Language in a fun and interactive way! Using one of the Malay Folk Stories from our Cerita Kita series, students will learn new Malay words, adjectives and verbs!

Students will gain confidence in speaking the Malay language and develop their pronunciation skills through dialogue exercises.

Students will also learn voice projection techniques, facial expressions, characterization and also get to enjoy hands-on activities in creating their own props for their performance. This is a structured drama course that allows students to acquire Malay language skills and have the basic knowledge of staging a mini play for a class audience.

Cerita Kita Creative Writing Workshop

– To inspire students to create their own fractured folktale.
– To teach students to express themselves creatively and confidently through literary arts.
– To encourage students to think out of the box.

Student’s first step to becoming an author! This course aims to develop language and writing skills in students.

Using the famous folklore ‘Pak Pandir’ from our Cerita Kita series as reference, students will be guided through a 6 weeks creative writing course which encourage them to use their imagination to create their very own fractured folktale!

Students will learn to improvise a plot, expand situation and combine story elements that will surprise readers!

‘Baju Melayu Ati!’ Readers’ Theatre Workshop

Objectives:

– To teach children to express themselves creatively through drama.

– To inspire children to develop a lifelong love of reading Malay books.

Let’s bring this story to life! Inspired by Rilla Melati Bahri’s bilingual picture book from the Siri Beg Besar Nenek – “Baju Melayu Ati” comes a workshop that literally travels from out of a bag – a bag full of stories!

Children aged 7-8 will have a lot of fun in this storytelling workshop that seeks to encourage the child to discover the Malay language and use it to communicate with one another confidently.

Children will be guided to immerse themselves in Ati’s world and learn to express themselves creatively as they role play and use their imagination to give life to Ati’s adventures!

Children aged 9 to 10 will have a lot of fun in this interactive storytelling workshop that seeks to encourage the child to discover the Malay language and use it to communicate with one another confidently. Students will be introduced to 3 different ways of storytelling and be encouraged to express themselves creatively as they narrate, role play and use their imagination to give life to Ati’s adventures!

An Interactive Storytelling Workshop

Objectives:

– To instill a love for the Malay language in a fun and exciting manner.
– To encourage children to become creative and competent communicators.

Your capal is so old fashioned!” said a customer as he walked out of the shop. Old fashioned? Samsudin became angry and desperate. Will he be able to continue making capal when no one wants them anymore? Can he sustain his trade in this modern day and age?

Inspired by Rilla Melati Bahri’s picture book from the Festive Tales Series – “Capal Samsudin” comes a workshop that follows the story of Samsudin the capal maker as he learns the true value of friendship, forgiveness and perseverance in celebrating a very special Hari Raya!

Students will have a lot of fun in this storytelling workshop that seeks to encourage the student to discover the Malay language and use it to communicate with one another confidently.

Using the age old art of oral storytelling and simple props, students will be guided to immerse themselves in Samsudin’s world and learn to express themselves creatively as they narrate, role play and use their imagination to give life to Samsudin’s journey!

Wartawan Cilik Improvisation Workshop

Junior Reporter Workshop

Objectives:
– To improve the student’s confidence in using the Malay language.
– To use the Malay language in a formal and in-formal setting with confidence.
– To engage students to make an effective and creative presentation to the viewers.

This improvisation workshop aims to develop effective oral communication amongst the lower secondary students so as to inspire them to gain self-confidence and be motivated to speak in front of an audience. It uses role-playing and devising methods as a means of self-expression and communication to develop good public speaking skills.

Students will be immersed in various scenarios such as the National Day Parade, Prize Giving Ceremony, Asian Games and etc as they learn the basics of communication by role-playing as a news anchor, reporter and interviewees. From verbal to non-verbal cues, students will grasp the techniques that will shape them to become efficient communicators. They will be able to acquire competency of communication techniques such as choice of words, delivery styles, understanding of audience and other contributing factors. Students will develop critical thinking skills while being able to articulate personal viewpoints and consider multiple perspectives.

Students will not only get to learn but enjoy the opportunity to act out an identity and find the right approach to address the given audience. In doing so, students will get to explore the varying ways of
communication and learn how to adapt themselves in the different situations.

Lagu-Lagu Kita

A Music & Lyric Making Workshop

Objectives:
– To encourage students to love the Malay language through songs.
– To enrich and expand student’s vocabulary through lyric making.
– To instill basic music concept and appreciation of Malay children songs.

This workshop is a language-based programme that uses music as a tool of discovery for children to explore their creativity.

Students will be exposed to a collection of Malay children songs of the 1950s-1980s from our ‘Lagu- Lagu Kita’ song compilation. Using selected songs, students will be guided to explore literary art as they try to create their own song! This allows students to develop and understanding and appreciation of songs from the past and bridges the gap between the young and old (grandparents) who would have listened to these song when they were younger.

Through the understanding the basic concept of Malay poetry, students will go through the process of developing their own lyrics. They will also learn the basic knowledge of music while understanding its expressive qualities such as rhythm, dynamics and tempo.
At the end of the course, students will present their own songs and will have a better understanding of Malay Children Songs from the past and may even be able to sing along with their grandparents at home!

Language Discovery Through Songs

Objectives:
– To develop a love for the Malay language, through the use of timeless children’s songs.
– To be aware of the positive messages, values, themes and life skills that is present in the song.
– To expand their vocabulary through word association.
– To exercise creativity and improve their listening skills.
– To use songs as a means of self-expression.

Through the use of well-loved children’s songs, this course aims to develop creative writing, vocabulary, rhyming, listening, music and life skills.

Students will be taught a song from our Rentak Cilik Karaoke series, which is a compilation of Malay children’s songs. Through the songs, students will not only learn new words but they will understand the underlying messages that are made up of positive moral values and life skills that they can inculcate into their lives.

Primary 1 & 2
Students will work in groups to create a word bank (based on the theme of the song) and put up a classroom performance of their song!

Primary 3 & 4
Students will be guided to rewrite the lyrics, using the same theme and melody. Students will perform their newly created lyrics at the end of the programme.

Malay Fortnight Special Lagu-Lagu Kita

As a special celebration of the Malay Fortnight week, this programme revives Malay childhood through the songs from our Lagu-Lagu Kita collection. 

 

A song will be selected to fit the different age groups and students will be taught the song in the beginning of the workshop. They will then learn the values of the songs it consist and go through vocabulary worksheets.

A Performative Arts Camp

Objectives:
– To develop a love for the Malay language, culture and the arts.
– To improve student’s use of the Malay language in both everyday and formal situations.
– To teach students to express themselves creatively through culture and related dramatic terms.
– To instill confidence in students through performances for an audience.
– To provide students with a healthy outlet for their creative expressions.
– To allow students to learn cultural values and the Malay language in a fun and interactive way

Through an intensive 1-day camp, students will be taught to hone their skills in the art of traditional dance, acting, hosting and a cultural element – dikir barat by various professional arts practitioners and personalities who are recognized in the Malay Performing Arts industry.

Students will rotate from one station to another with each station focusing on a specific art form to impart. By the end of the day, students will be able to put up a live performance of their choice in front of a live audience, a la a mini concert.
